Before Ballad by Dragons had a name, a young poet once looked out a window—
and saw both beauty and devastation staring back.
That vision became her first poem. The world has changed, but its meaning still echoes today.
The World is a Paradise
I walk toward the window,
Looking down below, hoping to see—
Flowers dancin', birds singin',
Children playin', women dancin', and
Men laughin'. I see…
Looking up above, hoping to see—
Blue sky smiling, clouds dancing, and
The sun laughin'. I see…
Paradise—slaughter all around.
Looking down again, I see—
Children cryin', women dyin', and…
Men slaughtering,
Birds fallen, flowers vanishin'.
Looking up above, I see a sky
Darker than the darkest night,
Deeper than the deepest light.
And the clouds cryin', fillin'
The ocean with red tears.
The world is a paradise.
Envy, lust, greed, pride—
Wrath, sloth, and gluttony.
